WELCOME!
Below are the rules of the site. Please make sure you read all of them before continuing with the site.
THE RULES
1. REGISTERING
- Registering members must be 13 yrs. or older to join. Anyone caught that is under age will be deleted from the site until they are old and mature enough to join. Maturity is a big key here at Terrace. If you can't be mature, or are caught being immature you will be warned.
- Any registering member should read and understand the TOS if they are new to a Proboards site. Also if you are unsure about the TOS, re-read it. It won’t hurt to do so.
- Those people who are registering with disabilities, if you have troubles and need assistance please leave a note at the help desk, or message a staff member to let us know.
2. GETTING STARTED
- Create your account and remember to change the name to the character you want to apply for.
- Only one account permitted per character, there’s less confusion that way.
- There is no limit on accounts, just keep track of them. Otherwise inactive accounts will be deleted.
3. SITE INFORMATION
- Most if not all site info is in one place, so it shouldn't be hard to find. Just check out the side bar table for the quick links to easily navigate your way through the site.
- If you need site assistance please contact the staff or ask another member.
- All site information will be updated as needed to keep up to date with the site and the community as a whole.
4. THE CHARACTER
[/b]
- All members must fill out the application for their characters to be processed. Failure to fill out the form will just mean that there is no character.
- All forms must have a 2-3 staff ruling before they are approved or fully rejected. If an app is rejected for any reason, a member has the 3 strike rule to fix the application before the app is fully denied. Rejected forms will go to the denied files.
- If a staff member tells you your app may not be ready yet, take the helpful hints and work with them. Remember the effort put in is the gratitude given out. So please, do not argue with the staff over whether the advice is good or not.
- Make sure all character applications are spelled right and grammatically correct. No using of short lingo or chat speak in filling out the forms unless absolutely necessary. It can get mundane to read.
- Work on a character bio MUST be done by the member and the member alone. However, it is okay to ask for help or advice. Just don't make another member or staff do your work for you, they won't thank you kindly for that.
- Note to all members, characters may take up to a week to be processed. If after a week is over, and the character still has not been processed, please then inform the staff.
[/li][li]Applications can only be considered Works in Process [WIP] for up to three weeks. On the fourth week, you're application will be deleted. This has been extended to understanding of business.
[/li][/ul][/blockquote]
5. PROFILE
- Your name after your account has been created should be the name of the character you are applying to be.
- Your icon should be the face-claim of your character, 100x100. May be smaller, but no bigger.
- Your signature should be a banner of your character, and should not be over 500x250. If you need a banner made, please request one at the Help Desk.
- Any additional information you wish to be included to your profile, please message a staff member
6. ROLEPLAYING
- Should stay in IC (In Character) mode. Use OOC (Out Of Character) only if you need to make notes or to clarify something.
- God Modding is NOT allowed at all in character or out of character. One members character can't just outright say what another character does period. This especially goes for fights.
Also no power playing, meaning over doing something you don't have. Also killing outright without consent of the other member is a very big no no. Don't do it. Also if anyone is found being pushy about something in a thread and is forcing you or you are forcing someone action will be taken.
We do not push members into doing things just cause we may not like it. The other members can't read your minds as to what you were hoping for, so talk it out civilly or don't say anything, but don't be forceful or rude. If playing nice doesn't work then please don't play, find someone else to rp with on the site.- (Rule advised) No tagged threads. I think it leaves it open to anyone if all posts were to remain open to anyone. It's a college, and a town and not everyone has the privilege of privacy or interruptions for that matter. In real life, how many times has the phone rang in the middle of something that you were up to? Yeah. So, keep them open, even if someone wants to just hop in and call another character that's cool too.
- At the beginning of each thread, please put the date and time of the scene taking place. This will help keep things on a time line basis, and will help characters.
7. WRITING
- WORD COUNT: There is no set word count. We understand that sometimes it's not easy to post a long response. If you can hit 100, great, if you can go higher, even better.
- You MUST use spell check! Especially if you know your going to be making a lot of mistakes in words. Make sure your words are grammatically correct.
- Structure is key to a post. Make sure it not only flows with you but it flows with the rest of the thread so other members aren't having to ask questions of how the post relates.
- Things to remember when posting: Plot, Characters, Setting, and the interaction between them. A good thread is one that is seamless and flows well. The characters interact in deeper ways than what one would expect. No one likes a paper thread, meaning flat and boring. So if you need help with beefing up skills for the bulk part of the writing ask someone who may be able to help you.
- Timelines are a very big problem for many folks. Especially time progression. If you can't keep track of a thread and characters time, date, and location; put it at the top of the post you make. That way not only you know where your character is at, at that time, but also other members will know where your character is at. Another thing to make life easier.
- No Mary Sue posts, they're obnoxious. No one will want to post with someone if all they do is make over dramatic displays of damsel in distress, want all the attention on them all the time just so they can act pathetic 24/7, or make there posts so light and fluffy it would make a persons tooth ache and seem "unreal". Its not to say that there can't be elements of the above done every once in a while, it just means it can't be done all the time.
- Do not make your characters posts GOD like, cause no character is that, save for the sake of God self. Even then if God were on a site like this the character would even have to be played down. So yeah no character is 100% perfect. Make sure characters have flaws throughout threads.
- Please try and refrain from size 1 font. Its not against the rules to do it just try to refrain from using it. There may be members that cannot read it easily. Have a good post or have a pretty post its your choice, but weigh the odds of which might do better. In other words, Readability over looking fancy.
8. OUT OF CHARACTER
- NO DRAMA! It will not be tolerated anywhere! If any overdone drama is caught it will be reported promptly.
- Keep all bias' at the proverbial door of the site. Any discrimination or harassment will be dealt with bans and then deletions.
- Out of character means just that, out of character. You are not the character you play.
- NO PORN! You will be hunted for that, told to take it off, and not to do it again. Repeat offenders will just be deleted. It is not allowed on any Proboard's site. Now granted some fleshy pics are tolerated. But nothing full nude. Those are the big no no's.
- Remember that their are people behind the characters. Many tend to forget that. We know we are real so other should logically know the same.
- If any OOC issues crop up please inform the staff. If its the staff that are a issue, please talk to that staff member privately or let other staff members know that they need to talk to that particular staff member.
- OOC posting is just as important and as much fun as IC posting. It a good way to get to know your fellow members.
- Make sure all topics are reasonable and are not spam.
9. CONTESTS AND EVENTS
- Awards will be given at the convenience of the staff. However, this could be liable to change if things are too busy.
- Mini contests will be done at the discretion of the staff. If you have a mini contest idea please let the staff know.
- Other events that may go on may tie into the holidays and other site related deals. Just keep an eye out for them.
- Major events for the two schools on this site will be dealt with in a proper manner and personal rules for the event will be laid out hense forth for the events to occur. Breaking of the events rules with result in a warning.
10. HAVE FUN!
- Have fun! It's what we're here for!
- Play hard! Don't be shy just jump right in with us we love new members!
- RP like hell! Play out plots with anyone and everyone!
- Don't take it personal, and don't make it personal.
